"Blossom of Spring"  Williams James (1935-1999)

Williams James, a gifted contemporary impression Artist whose style was influenced by Pierre-August Renoir (1884-1919) for his soft impressionistic brush strokes and Frederic Bazille (1841-70) for his use of bright colors and limpid atmosphere, painted "Blossom of Spring" during his love affair with his now-wife model.  One could not say for sure that who was courting who, for Williams James was well-known for his charm and gallantry with the women but was also very popular and well-adored for his soft and romantic painting style.  The story goes that the subject model searched him out in a "Ball De Masquerade"  after he revealed to her that he was the romantic impressionist painter who painted only beautiful women.  After a couple dances and a few drinks later, he had her (or was it the other way around?) agreed to pose for him the next day which they did and the love story blossom from that early day of  Spring.  "A romantic love story that ended James' nude-painting career (1935 -1999) and love for another woman. "Blossom of Spring" was so titled to commemorate their blossoming love affair that started in the Spring of 1988 when the flowers were blooming and the air was filled with romance and ended twelve-years later with his sudden death in 1999.
